How Big Is It? #Size
Split is the second largest city in Croatia with roughly 180 000 people, and 300 000 all together in its metropolitan region.
It is a very important passenger harbour in the Mediterranean sea and a spot that is gladly visited by tourists from all over the world.
After a good meal, walking next to the sea in a relaxed manner, just like locals, is the perfect way to wrap up your evening since Split has a beautiful walkable coastline that expands for more than 12 km or 7,5 miles.
What Does Split Offer? #Goodstuff
Whether people travel for sun & sea, adventure or history – Split has it all.
Split is a UNESCO protected zone 1700 years old which makes it an unavoidable destination for history lovers as well as leisure tourists.
You will find people living within the ancient walls of the Roman Emperor palace, Diocletian palace, making it a perfect mix of history and welcoming easy going locals.
Paradoxically, a big part of the citizens of Split are more interested in chit chatting with coffee under the sun and outdoor activities than history, which surrounds them on every corner. Even though Split has a small town vibe and it’s easy to walk, there are a bunch of streets and passages in the center so it is easy to get yourself lost and be dragged into the magic of exploring unknown beauty with a fresh look on the ancient and middle aged streets.
Most locals have gotten used to the magic or even lost it due to familiarity with the city.
Running into a sharply dressed acapella choir of men singing the most lovely melodies, exploring the narrowest street in the whole city or taking a photo of the 3500 years old Egyptian Sphinx – it can all happen in the span of 2 minutes of wandering around.
Split is famous as a Game of Thrones filming set location but also famous for weird people in speedos playing beautiful aesthetic sports at the beaches, sports that they have invented and popularized.
You see how polarizing your choices of what to do and explore can get? Choice is yours.

Temperature Is Good? #Mediterranean
Summer temperatures reach up until 35 degrees celsius or 95° Fahrenheit, which is very convenient for swimming and chilling on the beach and winters are around 8-10° celsius or 46 – 50 degree fahrenheit – still comfortable with not so often rain and snow every 5 years.
Winter tourism is growing in Croatia and our travel agency is open for you 365 days as well.
So if you want to avoid summer hype and enjoy a more peaceful easy rhythm you can skip July or August and come any other month in a year. Just keep in mind the ferry schedule for the islands is more limited in winter than in summer.
